It only has tables that control shifting, in any direction!.
The truck does not have tables specific to shifting the transmission up or down. What? That does not make sense!Īctually, the way Toyota has it setup, it makes perfect sense. The truck does not have determined up-shift and down-shift tables in the electronics. So how does the electronics interfere with the operation of the transmission? Well, the operation is quite complex, and quite a new concept to Toyotas programming, and transmission programming in general. There is not a magical recipe of hardware under the casing that makes this transmission act so badly. How does the new Aisin AC60F 6-spd automatic really work? The transmission itself (hardware) it setup quite similar to any other transmission on the market. We think it's the new logic (brain) behind the transmission that has too much freedom. While 2 overdrive gears are definitely part of the problem, it's not the primary problem, and there is a way around it. But why is this happening, and why do we hate it so much? Is it because it has two over-drive gears? We think not. The 3rd Gen Tacoma has some funky stuff going on with it's transmission. We use all chevy trucks in our fleet in my bussiness we are considering going foreign, not very proud of our american trucks. The Third Gen Tacoma Automatic transmission, why you hate it, and how we are reshaping it. I am so disappointed with my Yukon,I will never but another cmc product again,no one seems to care but for $43,000 you would think they would. Now out of warranty,at 49,000 just replaced window regulator again, steering still a promblem but now steering box is shooting fluid out top seal on box, need to replace steering box at my cost. Same complaint as always about sterring noise and transmission, inspected and replaced intermediate steering shaft, drivers window stopped working they replaced window regulator, fluids leaking they replaced leaking trans gasket. At 20226 02/20/03 still having promblems with transmisson clunking between shifting points r/r and greased splines at transmission, along with harmonic noise comming from running boards, tighten up running boards, transmissinon was also slipping & they reset transmission adaptives,Ġ9/04/03 still having promblems with transmission clunking at shift points they reset shift adaptives & relearn shift points still same promblems when I left dealer. Promblems started at 16,471 steering started rattling, and felt loose, dealer looked at & lubricated intermediate shaft along with downshifting on its own ? 12/05/02. As I sit and type this all down for this submission, I realize just how much has gone wrong with this car & matches up with other owner statements on this website. I have also had to replace the rear air shocks ($2500) I bought this car used (supposedly gm certified)) from a chevy dealer not more than 3 years ago with 75k miles.
One went and two weeks later the other went.
($600) I have also had to replace both the front airbag sensors in the front bumper. It continued to run and would have drained the battery had I not disconnected the battery. Another issue (electrical) - I shut the car off with the blower motor on (heater in the winter) and the blower motor stayed on even after the car was shut off, no keys. Slipping and eventually it was going to cause an accident so had to open the wallet for that. I've also had the miss pleasure of having to replace the transmission ($3500) this year as well. Had the sense to have it towed to the dealer for the $2400 estimate, they also said that my transmission lines were leaking so estimate also included the labor/parts to replace both sets of lines to fix both line related issues. Looked under car, dripping brake fluid from under middle of card. Luckily rolling stops and keeping distance from other cars allowed me to get back home. Drove son to school quarter mile to school and noted the lack of braking ability. Winter 2014, connecticut - backing out of driveway peddle felt mushy and going down farther than normal.
